As a solar PV installer, you're often faced with questions about backup power options for inverters. With Fronius introducing the PV Point Comfort as an enhancement to their GEN24 inverter series, it's essential to understand how this differs from the standard PV Point so you can explain the advantages to your customers.

PV Point: The Basics

The PV Point is a basic backup power solution integrated into the Fronius GEN24 and GEN24 Plus series. In the event of a power outage, it provides power based on the current PV generator output (or an existing battery). The switching is automated by the inverter, requiring no additional grid switching components. It allows users to supply important single-phase loads up to 3 kW in their homes. While it ensures that power is available during an outage, users need to physically plug in the device(s) they wish to power.

One key feature of the PV Point is its flexibility. It doesn't necessitate the installation of a battery storage unit, but it can be used in conjunction with one if desired.

Whilst the PV Point is very useful, it may not be the most convenient or ideal solution in situations where you need continuous power for certain appliances, like a freezer, fire alarm, or security system - especially when nobody is at home. If users want essential systems to remain powered without manual intervention, the PV Point Comfort might be the most suitable solution.

Introducing
PV Point Comfort

The PV Point Comfort offers a more seamless solution. It provides a power supply to the connected socket or circuit, even during regular grid operation, unlike the standard PV Point. This ensures that critical devices remain powered without needing to plug them in manually during a power outage.

To enable this functionality, an additional circuit board must be installed in the inverter's connection area. The good news is that this upgrade can be done at any time, allowing flexibility for future enhancements.

Benefits for Customers

For customers, the PV Point Comfort offers peace of mind. It ensures that critical systems like emergency lighting, security alarms, and even entertainment devices remain powered automatically, without any need for manual intervention. This makes it an ideal solution for those who value convenience and reliability in backup power solutions.

Understanding the differences between PV Point and PV Point Comfort allows you to provide informed recommendations to your customers based on their specific needs. By highlighting the convenience and reliability offered by the PV Point Comfort, you can help them make the best choice for their backup power needs.
