» Without automation, we would have to take on more qualified welders, but they’re few and far between on the labor market. That’s why we decided to use robotic systems. Fronius quickly reassured us. From the outset, the focus was on the welding challenge. The kinematics were designed on the basis of their solution and not the other way around. Today, we have three robotic welding cells with reversible positioners that do exactly what we want: reliably weld perfect seams. «

Companies are finding that an increasing shortage of skilled workers in all sectors is jeopardizing their competitiveness. Heizomat keeps up with automation solutions—even during welding. In this way the company not only achieves shorter lead times, but also attains consistently high weld seam quality that can be reproduced at any time. Visually flawless material connections and holding the associated ASME certificate (which is recognized in over 100 countries) are fundamental prerequisites for international orders for wood chip heaters.
The company uses Fronius robotic welding cells, which are equipped with the Pathfinder offline programming and simulation software. Welding takes place with the Pulse Multi Control PMC process, which is perfect for welding steel boilers. In comparison to manual welding, significantly higher speeds of up to 80 cm/min are achieved with optimal root penetration. When compared to manual welding, the robot needs just 1 h 40 min rather than 6 h. The seams are visually perfect and of consistently high quality. Another major advantage is the parallel set-up, which saves Heizomat unprofitable downtimes.
